Reckon is a founder archetype assessment that tells you what kind of operator you actually are, where you'll fail, and which businesses will destroy you. The product is a 70-question assessment, a written report, and a visual scorecard. The whole thing takes about 30 minutes.

WHY THIS EXISTS

Most personality tests for founders are flattery dressed as insight. They tell you you're special, you're a visionary, your gifts are rare, and you should follow your dreams. The output makes you feel good. The output is also useless if you're trying to make a real decision about a real business.

Reckon goes the other way. The report tells you what your responses say, not what you want to hear. The headline section is called the Hard Truth and it does what the name suggests. If you said you're a Visionary and your responses are Operator, the report says so. If you said you're a Closer and your responses are Craftsman, the report says so. The product is built for people who would rather get the read than get the validation.

WHAT'S ACTUALLY UNDER THE HOOD

The assessment measures eight personality dimensions:

• >Need for Achievement.

Big Five is the trait skeleton of modern personality psychology. The other three are constructs that have specific predictive value for entrepreneurial behavior. Together they cover the dimensions that actually matter for the question of how a person operates inside a business.

The dimension scores feed into eight founder archetypes: Visionary, Operator, Closer, Craftsman, Hustler, Strategist, Lone Wolf, and Loyalist. Your archetype is the closest match to your dimension profile. The report covers your archetype, your shadow (what your archetype does badly under stress), the historical figure whose pattern most resembles yours, the businesses you'd build well, the businesses that will destroy you, the cofounder you need, and the blind spots you keep stepping in.

Most of the assessment is forced-choice scenarios rather than agree-disagree statements. This format is harder to game because there is no obviously correct answer. A small set of standard rating items are mixed in to anchor your scores against the population, not just against your own other answers. The format is similar in spirit to validated forced-choice instruments like Hogan.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

Reckon is a self-reflection tool. It is not professional career counseling, business advice, financial advice, or psychological assessment. The report does not diagnose anything clinical. It does not predict outcomes. It describes patterns in your responses and tells you, candidly, what those patterns suggest about how you operate.

Decisions about starting a business, joining a business, or leaving one involve a lot more than personality. Use the report as one input among many. Don't use it as the input.

WHO BUILT THIS

Reckon is the work of one founder operating from honest experience with personality assessments and entrepreneurial outcomes. The instrument was built from peer-reviewed psychometric research; the voice was built deliberately to sound like a smart friend being honest with you, not a wellness brand or a clinical report. Every claim in the report is grounded in your actual responses. The LLM that writes the personalized sections runs against your structured scores, not against a template.
